Sabich is a multicultural meal, which was developed by Iraqi Jews into the 20s of the past century. Thus the Sabich one is a Jewish – Arab community creation which one interconnects the two food cultures. The word Sabah is Arab (صباح) and means morning. Arabs welcome each other by saying sabah al xair. With the diaspora of the Jews in the 40s and 50s of the 20. Century the Sabich were imported from Iraq to Israel and eaten also there particularly in the morning of the Jewish Sabbath. Nowadays Sabich is eaten and enjoyed as export hit in many metropolises around the world. So from Jerusalem around the world.

THE MARKETS

The travel diary

Probably you played the popular game musical chairs (Germans call it: Reise nach Jerusalem/ journey to Jerusalem) at a childrens birthday party or a wedding ceremony already. A firm number of players dances to music around chairs, whose number does not offer a place to everyone. As soon as the music stops, every player secures itself as fast as possible a chair on which he/she takes place. Who is too slow or danced too wildly, is ruled out without a seat possibility.

The locations for Street-Food on the popular markets in Berlin are likewise limited and it isn’t easy to get hold of one of the places in demand. In combination with the origin of the Sabich, the idea of a culinary Journey to Jerusalem came into our minds.
